Day One
Arrive at St Bees where we will spend our first night getting to know
each other over a fantastic BBQ prepared by our support crew (weather
permitting), and a few drinks. A pick up service is available for people
traveling from London or Manchester.
Day Two
Breakfast out of the way and the packed lunch stowed away in your daypack,
the only pack you need to carry as we transport the rest, and we set
for the awesome mountains of the Lake District. Our destination for
today is the village of Ennerdale Bridge. (14 miles). We spend another
night under the stars with another sumptuous meal cooked for your delight.
Day Three
Today we make our way from Ennerdale Bridge to Rosthwaite. A few stops
on the way to admire this amazing country (14 miles). Tonight we have
a night in local accommodation.
Day Four
Another days trek in these beautiful mountains takes us from Rosthwaite
to Grasmere. (9 miles). Tonight’s accommodation will again be
prepared for us by the support crew, followed by a home cooked dinner
and a well deserved night’s rest.
Day Five
A leisurely breakfast, followed by a leisurely trek from Grasmere to
Patterdale. As usual we will have plenty of stops along the way for
photographs and our packed lunch. In this picturesque part of the Lakes
we eat, drink and sleep under the stars. (8 miles)
Day Six
Today we start to leave the towering mountains of the Lakes behind us
as we head for the rolling hills of the Yorkshire moors. Our destination
tonight is the ancient village of Shap (16 miles). A night spent in
local accommodation.
Day Seven
Today’s trek sees us leaving Shap and heading for the quaint old
village of Kirkby Stephen. We take in the rolling countryside of this
beautiful part of the eastern lakes district stopping to recharge our
batteries with our packed lunch and the odd photo or two of this most
tranquil of British scenery. (20 miles) Upon arrival our camp will be
a welcoming site with a brew on the boil and the smell of a freshly
cooked dinner in the air.
Day Eight
Our destination for today’s trek is Keld, a distance of 12 miles,
where we will spend the evening in the company of good friends as we
reminisce about our journey so far over a wee drop or two.
Day Nine
After another sumptuously prepared breakfast we head off for the hills,
this time aiming for the sleepy village of Reeth. Accommodation tonight
will be locally supplied and full of English charm. (11 miles)
Day Ten
As another delightful day dawns we find ourselves meandering the countryside
in the direction of the ancient town of Richmond, with the ruins of
its great Norman castle overlooking this idyllic market town. The campsite
will again be prepared and food will be aplenty. (10 miles)
Day Eleven
From Richmond we wend our way over the North Yorkshire moors to Ingleby
Cross where we will camp for the night and feast upon the delights served
up by the ever willing support crew. (22 miles)
Day Twelve
We breakfast, pack up the day packs and head off for Clay Bank Top.
This part of the route is an absolute delight to trek and will sooth
the soul of even the most tired of trekkers. Tonight’s accommodation
will be local and ye Olde worlde. (12 miles)
Day Thirteen
From Clay Bank Top we head for the village of Glaisdale. Our night will
be spent under the silent star lit sky, resting, eating and even more
eating.
Day Fourteen
A short trek awaits us after a leisurely breakfast. Today we wander
the hills and dales to the village of Littlebeck. Again everything will
be prepared and waiting for our arrival. (8 miles)
Day Fifteen
The end is in sight. The final 11 miles of our trek takes us over the
last hills and into the beautiful coastal village of Robin Hood’s
Bay. Our destination is achieved at last and to celebrate we will wine
and dine as never before. Tonight’s accommodation will again be
local. (11 miles)
Day Sixteen
Resting, sightseeing and shopping are the order of the day before we
are driven to the railway station for departure home.
