Day One:
Pick up from the railway station at Kyle of Lochalsh. An introductory tea and cakes and a wee dram of Scotland’s finest with the guides and support crew before we head for the haunting beauty that is the Isle of Skye. Our first stop for this expedition will be the town of Portree, where we will have lunch and a tour of the town. There will be plenty of time for sight seeing and shopping. Evening meal will be either served by the crew or in a local hotel depending on the weather.
Day Two:
Today we venture north from Portree heading for the magnificent Old Man of Storr and the Storr summit. A packed lunch overlooking this beautiful country and a descent back to the support vehicle will see us once more head north towards Staffin. On the way we will stop off at some excellent lookouts and waterfalls. Tonight we stay just outside Staffin where we will enjoy the culinary delights of our support crew, and a jar or two at a local pub. For those with energy to spare there’s always the moonlight walk on Staffin Bay.
Day three:
A breakfast waits, after which we head off the main road in search of the summit of Quiraing. In reaching this exacting peak we also take in the strange rock pinnacles of The Table, The Prison and The Needle. A wonderful days climb. Again the support crew will be waiting to take us on to our night’s stopover. This time it’s the town of Uig. Eat, drink and be merry for tomorrow we head for the giants of the island, the Cuillins.
Day Four:
An early breakfast and it’s off on the road south. Our Destination is the beautiful Glen Brittle. A short but rewarding detour will take us to the spectacular waterfall at Eas Mor, set at the foot of the awesome Cuillin Mountains. Our stop tonight is the small beach campsite at the end of Glen Brittle. Whilst the support crew set up camp we will explore the surrounding mountain scenery with a trek to a lochran deep in the heart of the mountains; Coire Lagan. This beautiful loch affords specular views of the mighty Cuillin ridge as well as magnificent views overlooking the Islands of Rhum and Canna. The support crew will again serve the evening meal.
Day Five:
After a good wholesome breakfast we head back along Glen Brittle. Our trek today takes us from the shaded woodlands of Glen Brittle forest northeast as we skirt the giant peaks and head towards the famous Sligachan hotel, where our support crew will be waiting. A fine days walk and a good hot meal followed by a drink of your favourite whisky sees the end of another perfect day on the magnificent Isle of Skye.
Day Six:
A long day in the mountains. Today we enter the Cuillins themselves as we head for Loch Coruisk. This trek will take you right into the heart of these gigantic peaks. It truly is an awesome sight and one never forgotten. Lunch will be taken on the banks of this beautiful lake set deep in the Cuillins. A just reward for the effort.
Day Seven:
Our final day on the island. We take a leisurely breakfast and head south. We will stop at various lookouts and beauty spots before having lunch in the town of Broadford. There will be time allowed to explore the town and do that last minute shopping before we make our way back to the station at Kyle of Lochalsh.
